Looking forward to my trip to Canberra this weekend, but I needed some new music for my iPod – so I snuck out of class early today to record this short 60 min mix.
Click on the CD cover above to start listening or download the mix on soundcloud
Here it is! My first completed pre viz video assessment. Roughly 8 camera rigs rendered in Maya playblast and composited in Adobe Premiere. Music is from the Sherlock Holmes original soundtrack by Hans Zimmer.
Taking inspiration from the female body, I spent a good few hours penning these sketches on the weekend. The sketches are based on 2 great documentaries online at sbs.com.au -
” Lin Hwai-Min: Cloud Gate Dance Theatre Full Ep ” – Lin Hwai-min is the choreographer, director and founder of the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan. Lin talks intimately about his life, influences, work and troupe of dancers. Watch now
“SBS Video: Crazy Horse: The Revival Full Ep” – Uncovering the sexiest cabaret in the world, this film follows the reopening of Paris’ infamous remodeled Crazy Horse. Watch now
Both of these films contain powerful images of the female body in motion, one a more seductive side and one a more artistic side. Yet each instilled a powerful image of the female naked body, her body lines – beautiful curves; Her hands with their graceful poses.
Drawing & modeling the human body is considered one of the most difficult task, due to the exact proportion, each part of the body fits and complements each other to produce such gracefulness.
My drawings are not meant to be polished, just a study into the curves and lines of the female body. I used a black marker for these drawings in preference to the usual pencil as I wanted to really accentuate the body lines.
Fridays are a treat at college, part of the afternoon class lets the students use the state of art motion capture system Blade. Having a gadget fetish I find it very ummm – ‘ full filling ‘ to be let loose to use all the expansive equipment.
The motion capture studio has 8 tracking cameras equipped with hi-resolution lenses hooked up to the latest version of Blade mo-cap software.
Everyone loves free stuff and I’m certainly no different. Since taking up 3D animation & Modeling I have been busy collecting free textures for material shaders from the internet and magazine CDs. But the problem with using these textures is that everyone else has them too!
So to get a bit more flare and creativity into my models nothing beats hand making your textures using programs like photoshop & my latest love – ImageSynth 2. I will be covering imageSynth in another post soon but for now in the spirit of file sharing.
I would like to share with you 40 free textures of trees, bark and interesting rock formations.
Latest render from the VFX Forge of a rose loosing its petals – I wanted to achieve a very natural simulation with this test.
Using Maya’s new nCloth dynamics I was able to rig up this 3d model rose’s petals dropping with convincing real-life dynamics, the first short has some air/wind applied to the petals. The second shot has no internal forces except for normal gravity. The hard part about the whole process was adjusting the air density and also the petals rigidness & flexibility.
The petals were modeled using low polygons with smoothing and a nice simple lambert shader with some transparency applied to it.
These animations will be used as part of my video art short titled ‘ Orange ‘ – coming to every youtube near you. The concept will be a single orange rose in mids of an urban setting or a see of other colored roses – I hope to animate the rose growing, flowering than withering in the most dramatic way possible.
I am hoping to combine some simpler elements from this great dynamics demonstration video when the petals are falling.
Fingers crossed I get to realise the concept and bring it to reality to show you.
I need to work - doesn't matter in which department or pipeline as long as I'm working in Visual effects, post production or CG related areas with passionate like minded people.
Willing to relocate and pay for my own way if the right project is offered.
