Heres a fun project I had to do in a few days, a mid poly cow for Cerebus 3D. modeled in Maya, detailing in zbrush and textured in Zbrush. What you see in the video is a real-time playblast with viewport 2.0. total poly count was 5000 faces. not super low poly, since its not for games and geared towards film and nicer deformations for animators. Total time was 4 days.

Lots of updates for this scene I’ve been busy on. Should be a pretty dynamic shot once all done.

Test render of the animation at very low settings, roughly 4 min a frame at 720×405, so shouldnt be that bad for the final at 720P. No matte painting used, all live geo, instances and proxies.

Here are two composites currently in progress. Loving Nuke, for heavy comps it beats After Effects hands down for workflow, speed and responsiveness .

Got my hands on a second hand Kinect with charge for under $80 ( RRP $200 )! Been waiting ages to try out the Kinect with Brekel. The Skeleton data was streamed live intro Motionbuilder where I recorded the bone data then mapped onto an actor, which was then cleaned and mapped onto my Ironman rig for some quick tests. Couldn’t come up with anything interesting so I just made some gestures and turned it into a rap video 😛

If I get more time tomorrow I’ll upload a video of the setup, tutorial wise there are plenty online already to follow so check them first. The results are remarkable for a $80 device, but lets not get carried away, this type of system doesnt even come close to professional systems like Vicon Blade, still its good fund to play around with. I’m probably going to record some motions to use for agents in a crowd sim 🙂

This is the result of about 2 days playing with Nuke for the first time. Using all nuke tools for the composite, matchmove & roto. CG was rendered using Vray multichannel EXR. Here is the nuke script, a bit messy but I’m just learning 🙂
